🟥⬛️ WEIGHT SHOULD BE IN YOUR HANDS….NOT YOUR HEAD!
🟥 DID YOU KNOW
A recent health study of 1 million people has proven that exercising for 45 minutes, 3-5 times per week can hugely alleviate the effects of depression and improve mental health, increasing positivity and reduce the need for antidepressants and prescription drugs.
❌ THE SCIENCE STUFF
When we exercise, our brains produce these amazing little fellas called endorphins (endogenous morphine) which are the body’s naturally occurring painkillers!
They helped our Palaeolithic ancestors continue running from predators, even when in pain or injured, very similar to the same way we produce endorphins when we exercise!
Serotonin & Dopamine are chemicals produced in the brain, improving our mood and protecting us against mental health disorders. Serotonin, which is produced by long-term cardio exercise, is clinically proven to decrease depression, while Dopamine improves your mood and long-term memory, stimulating highly pleasurable feelings and emotions.
❌ THE WHAT’S & WHY’S
Exercise decreases stress hormones, such as Cortisol, allowing you to become more relaxed and feel calmer. It also builds confidence and a positive self body image, and when we feel great in our skin, we feel great inside and out (and that includes our minds!)
Exercise also builds a kind of immunity to stress, as studies show that those who workout regularly are able to face stressful situations and cope with them more easily.
Add to this, when you exercise in a group environment, such as here at BC Rev, you build a network of social support, which is proven to improve our confidence and reduce anxiety. We also have a whole load of laughs here at BC Rev sessions, which we all know lifts our moods….laughter as they say is the best medicine!
Talking is always a great stress reliever, and although you may be out of breath on the #fieldofdreams, there’s also lots of great banter!
Exercise allows us a release for pent up tension, anger, anxiety, stress and lots of other negative emotions that can seriously affect our every day lives and mental well being!
