⬛️🟥 THE IMPORTANCE OF FIBRE
In a world obsessed with protein, (which is awesome of course) but we are here today to fly the flag of fibre as the Holy Grail of nutrients.
WHY?
Fibre is your GM's (Gut Microbes) favourite food - think of it as Mother Nature's gift to your gut. In turn, keeping your gut microbes well-fed and happy will also benefit just about every organ in your body, including your heart, mind and skin.
Fibre helps you feel fuller for longer and is a great aid to fat loss and keeps your toilet trips regular and your digestive tract healthy
WHERE DO YOU GET IT?
All your plant-based food groups: fruit, vegetables, whole grains, legumes (beans and pulses), nuts and seeds will provide you with a natural source of fibre.
HOW MUCh DO YOU NEED?.
Most guidelines recommend getting 25g for women and 45g for men of fibre a day, but most of us are getting less than 20g.
A few examples: 80g of tinned chickpeas gives you 5g fibre, a pear contains 5g, a medium baked sweet potato (skin on) has 6g, and 45g of oats is 4g of fibre
